July 31st - August 5, 2024
Between the end of July and the beginning of August, the region of Umbria, in central Italy, is home to one of Europe's largest hot air balloon festivals, the Sagrantino Cup.
For 10 days, almost a hundred ballooning aficionados from all over the world gather and fly above one of Italy's most iconic and beautiful landscapes.
This tour combines a number of diverse and exciting experiences, making sure there will always be something to enjoy and photograph at all times of day.
First of all, of course, you will be able to follow the festival closely, by going every morning, at sunrise, to the area where the balloons take off and being able to photograph them from up close.
After they start flying, we will follow them with private vehicles, trying to get photographs of dozens of balloons dotting the sky, over sunflower fields, medieval villages perched above verdant hills, vineyards, and lakes.

On a typical day, balloons will land before 8AM. At that time, you will be driven back to our resort, where you can have an energizing breakfast, take a nap, relax by the swimming pool or take a swim.
When the sun is highest in the sky, we will have gather in a classroom, where there will be either an instructional presentation or a discussion over the best shots you have taken during the morning. This will be followed by a light lunch, before some more free time to relax.
In the afternoon, we will head out again to visit some of Umbria's most beautiful towns and its countryside. One day, we will attend a wine tasting at a local, renowned winery, and on another there will be an optional cooking class.
In the evening, we will have a dinner at a local restaurant and enjoy some of the region's most typical food and wine.
In addition to all of this, those who want to experience flying in a hot air balloon and take photos from the air will have a chance to do it. We have partnered with a company that offers private flights with professionally licensed pilots, so there will be the option of taking to the air on select days.

About Umbria
Umbria is a small region deeply steeped in Italy's historical and religious roots. Assisi is of course world-renowned because of St. Francis and because of Giotto's frescoes in its Basilica, certainly one of the most impressive examples of medieval art in the whole world. But Umbria has so much more to offer, starting with Italy's greenest landscapes and some very well-preserved medieval towns.
On most days, we will do a short trip to one or more of the following locations:
- Perugia
- Assisi
- Gubbio
- Todi
- Orvieto
- Spoleto
- Civita di Bagnoregio
- Marmore Waterfalls
